The New Year is a time for reflection, of resolution, and of looking ahead to planting seeds for new growth in 2020. For members of First Christian Church, the New Year brings a renewed spirit of how God will be working within our church family. This spirit of renewal will bring with it new challenges, as we reach out to our friends and neighbors to grow our church. Why will this happen? It will happen because of the plan that God has for our church and each of we family of believers, a plan that includes our welcoming of everyone who walks into our church. Part of that plan is for each of us, individually, to reach out into our surrounding community, to our friends and neighbors, to prayerfully let them know that we have a message that they should come and hear. This is the evangelism commission that God calls each of us to do: to participate in reaching out, one soul at a time, to friends and neighbors and share our individual stories of God’s grace, mercy and forgiveness and invite them into our church family. This is a part of God's calling for each of us in the New Year. Jesus said, in Mark 16:15: "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." This is the evangelistic planting of seeds for the spiritual growth that will allow the Holy Spirit to work within and germinate. Let us pray for the miraculous, starting in McAllen, and take that message to the rest of the world, one person at a time!! Each of us can participate in this calling! God is calling us to look to the New Year as a time of growth for our church family. So let's honor the resolution we have with our Creator to reach out and bring the Good News to everyone we encounter. Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." This is a reminder that God has big arms and loves each of us and wants the opportunity to live within our heart of hearts. So, let’s experience God’s renewal, and invite God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit into our hearts and see what happens. Paul says, in Ist Corinthians 15:51-52, "Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed--in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed." Let us all work to bring about the change that God has planned for us; a change that will come about as we all share the good news with the rest of our community! Let the trumpet sound!!
God bless you in the New Year!!
